Castlerigg Star Trail

This Image is a digital merge of two images of the same scene. The first exposure taken was at dusk: f4 @16sec.

The second image was exposed when dark: f4 @6hours.

My initial plan was for one negative of the scene with the stones being painted in with a torch to bring them out of the darkness.
But when viewing the negative it was easy to see the stones were not evenly illuminated, luckily I had taken a test exposure at dusk which showed the stones in more detail and hence the merge “cheat” of the foreground from one with the sky from the other.
